August Class

Hello everyone.
We had a small but very fun and cosy class tonight, during which we discussed all sorts of topics such as cake decorating courses, towel racks, coffee machines, the fabulous new SU catalogue and....oh, yes...we made a couple of cards too! Ha ha!
Here they are...

This first cards are similar to the one I showed you in my previous post but in different colours. All the card packs I made for the class had a different feature colour in them. Participants were able to choose their sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments set. The masculine Just Rugby set is retiring at the end of tomorrow, so if you'd like to get your hands on it, or any other retiring set, please let me know ASAP!!!!

The background stamp is from the Extreme Elements stamp set. The stars were punched with star punches and pierced with a silver brad. The back coloured panel was embossed with the Lattice folder.

This was the second card....

It was inspired by a card that I found on this website by Cristena Bagne, featuring a technique that I don't know the name of! I'm sure that it isn't mentioned on her Blog either. Anyway, the technique results in a watercoloured look without the watercolouring. So cool and a hit at my class.
The background stamp is En Francais and the feature stamp and sentiment is from the Just Believe set.
The butterfly was cut with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit.

Holy Communion Layout

Hi everyone.

I hope you enjoyed your weekend. I managed to get this double page layout finished. It's of Mia's First Holy Communion that we celebrated in May. Here it is...

You may remember that Mia felt quite sick with a fever on the day, but despite that, she still looked gorgeous and managed to have a wonderful day.

I like the soft colours of this layout. The DSP's, which are now retired, were teamed with Very Vanilla cardstock. The flowers were cut in Very Vanilla, Bashful Blue and Crumb Cake with the Blossom Party die and a punch from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack. They were finished with half-pearls in the centres. The cross and dove images are from the Special Blessing stamp set. They were stamped in Crumb Cake ink and cut out. The butterflies were cut with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit. The silver charms are from my stash.

I like the soft colours of the layout. Very appropriate for such a special occasion.

Just a Rugby Card

Hello again.

Well, I managed to finished this card this morning in between all the panic of getting ready for school. It's for my nephew, who follows Manly in the NRL, but it would also make a great Father's Day card and it would be perfect for any male occasion. I'll definitely be replicating it in many different supporter coulours.

I used the Just Rugby set, which sadly, is retiring. I have been eyeing this set for some time & I just had to snap it up before it was too late. If there are any retiring sets that you have your heart set on, be sure to order them before they run out.

Anyway, back to the card.... The colours I used were Whisper White, Basic Black and Rich Razzleberry, which will also be retiring. The background stamp is from the Extreme Elements set. The sentiment is from the already retired Vintage Labels set. It was punched with the Jewellery Tag punch and attached with a silver brad to the stars, that were punched with the two sized star punches. The small star punch will also be retiring. Sob, sob... all these retiring items are making me sad but I'm sure I'll get over it when that lovely new catalogue kicks in on 1st September. How exciting! Not long now!

Parties Galore!

Don't you just love Kindergarten and the parties that come with it? I do! It's such a fun time for my little Demi. She has been invited to five parties over two months! Can you believe it? What does that mean for me? Lots of cardmaking! Here they are...

Because there are so many cards and so many supplies that I used, I won't list them all, but please feel free to ask if you'd like to know anything. I'm more than happy to share.

It was really hard to find the time to make all of these this week (I think it is my record - ha ha!) but I loved every minute of it.

I've already started on another card tonight & I have a few more to make yet. Wish me luck.

A Father's Day Card for my Dad

I'm back! This time with a Father's Day for my Dad....

I love this image! So appropriate for my Dad. I stamped it with black StazOn ink on watercolour paper and coloured it with my SU markers.

The DSP is from the just retired mini catalogue.  Sorry, I can never remember the names of the DSP packs. The cardstock is Pumpkin Pie, Night of Navy and Whisper White.

The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments. The embellishment is just a little piece of Whisper White paper tied with linen thread.

It's very simple but I like it.

Oh, the Places You'll Go! - Dr Seuss

Good morning!

Well, here I am another year older, having celebrated my birthday yesterday. It was a sweet day celebrated quitely at home with all my beloved family.

I have a card to share with you today that I made for a little friend of ours who will be turning four in a few weeks...

I'm in love with this image and it comes with such an appropriate quote from a Dr Seuss book, "Oh, the places you'll go." The stamped image of the sentiment was a little big so I typed it out on the computer instead, printed it, punched it with a circle punch, and put it on the inside of the card.

I used some old scrapbooking paper from my stash, teamed with Soft Suede and Bashful Blue cardstock. The Bashful Blue backing piece was torn with the Tearing Edge ruler.

The image was stamped with black StazOn ink on watercolour paper and coloured with SU markers. I added some glitter to the furry colour but it's a little difficult to see in the photo.

The flowers were cut with my Floral Fusion die and a punch from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack, and embellished with adhesive half-pearls. The leaves were cut with the Two Step Bird Punch. The sentiment on the front is from Vintage Labels and it was cut out with the Jewellery Tag Punch. The butterflies were cut and embossed in one step with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit. The letter 'A' was cut with the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies.

The little charm from my stash was tied with linen thread.

Kindy Party

Hi everyone.

I hope you basked in the gorgeous Sydney sunshine today.

I'm here today to share a card I made for one of Demi's Kindy classmates who will be celebrating her birthday tomorrow...

It's such a cute little image. I coloured it with SU markers. The letters and butterflies were cut with Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies and the Beautiful Wings Embosslit, respectively. The flowers were punched with the Itty Bitty Punch Pack and the leaves are from the Two-Step Bird Punch. I used little half-pearls to embellish.

I have so many cards to make in the next month or so but so little time! I plan to really get stuck into them next week so stay tuned for lots of posts.

Sk8er Boy Card

Hello people.

What a week it has been. Don't have much to show for it but I feel exhausted. Does that happen to you too?

I have a card to show you that I made for one of Demi's classmates whose party she'll be attending this weekend. I didn't have much time to complete it so I kept it fairly simple. Here it is...

Colours are Night of Navy and More Mustard. The DSP is from my stash. The image was coloured with SU markers. The cap charm has been tied with linen thread, which I have to say, I much prefer to the twine which can sometimes be a little stiff for little jobs.

Anyway, I have another card to make this weekend so I hope to be back soon.

Class Cards

Hello everyone.

I hope you've been keeping warm and dry this past week. It has rained so much here in Sydney that I'm contemplating building my own ark! Ha ha....

The rain didn't stop my lovely regular ladies from attending my class last night, a few joining me in wearing slippers. :)

Here are photos of our three projects of the night.

First, a very pretty and simple care made using flowers from the Floral Fusion die. The smallest Flower was punched with one of the punches from the set of three mini punches (the name escapes me). The sentiment is from Afterthoughts and the colours used were Crumb Cake, Whisper White and So Saffron.

For the second card I wanted the ladies to try out sponging so we created this sunset background on Whisper White using So Saffron, More Mustard, Cajun Craze, Bashful Blue, Marina Mist and Basic Grey ink pads. The stamps on this card are from Silhouette Sentiments. Card stock used was Bashful Blue, Whisper White. More Mustard and Basic Black.

There was no question that the final card would be a masculine card and I always get requests for these. The image on the card was stamped in such a way as to indicated movement. We used a Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect stamp placement. Colours used were Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie and Night of Navy. The Motorcycle stamp is from the current Mini Catalogue which ends at the end of this month. The sentimement is from Silhouette Sentiments and wash punched out with the Jewellery Tag Punch. The stars were also punched out and put together with a silver brad. The orange piece of cardboard in the background was embossed using the Lattice embossing folder. I think that's it!

Well, we had a great night crafting (OK, maybe there was some gasbagging and nibbling as well) into the wee hours of this morning.

I know I can't wait for the next one!

Fijian Holiday Layout

Hello everyone.

Today I managed to finish this layout of our holiday to Fiji...

I used stamps from the previous mini catalogie's Sentimental Journey stamp set to embellish this layout, together with some stranded cotton (from my cross stitching days), some silver charms, brads and a flowers die cut.

The journalling background was stamped with the En Francais background stamp and the edges distressed.

Colours used were Real Red, Night of Navy, Not Quite Navy and Crumb Cake. The DSP has been retired for some time so I don't recall the name of it.

Feel free to let me know what you think. I don't seem to get many comments so it would be nice to have a few more, just to know you care. :)

Little School Brag Books

Hello again!

You know those little wallet sized school photos you get as part of the school photos package, that always end up squashed in your wallet? Well, I decided to make little brag books for them...

Can you see the Crystal Effects on the glasses?

Inside, there is a page (in the same theme) for every year of preschool and primary.

I'm not sure why I didn't show you these before, as they have been in the works for quite some time, and I do quite like them. Oh well, better late than never!

I won't list all the supplies but if you'd like to know anything, please just ask.

Floral Fusion

Hello!

Managed to squeeze in this card during the school holidays as I just had to have another play with my Floral Fusion die...

I used the Beautiful Wings Emblosslits to cut the butterflies. The sentiment is from Silhouette Sentiments & the leaves are from the Two-Step Bird punch. Colours used: Whisper White, So Saffron, Certainly Celery and Marina Mist.

I rounded the corners of the card, something I don't normally do but I still like the result. Clean and crisp.

Breaking in the Dies

Hello people!

I hope that those of you with littlies are enjoying the school holidays.

Speaking of the littlies, I have a layout to show you of Mia's first netball game...

My new dies (Blossom Party, Floral Fusion and Beautiful Wings) got a good workout with this double page layout! Colours used were So Saffron and Bravo Burgundy.

I'm really into these dies, let me tell you. Can't wait to add a few more to my collection. :)
