I missed you!

I have finally managed to get back to blogging after a couple of frantic months - Christmas, New Year, school holidays, activities, and so on.

Just got back from a fantastic but very exhausting day at the zoo today, so it doesn't look like quietening down just yet.

Anyway, I'd like to show you three cards that I made last week...

A Card For My Brother-in-Law

Hello everyone.

School holidays are here! That means I had to quickly put this card together before World War III had a chance to break out. It's for my brother-in-law's birthday today...

I love the colours the cute image & the colours. The image was coloured in with my SU markers.

Retirement Card

Hello.

I'm back earlier than anticipated. One of the mums from school asked me to make a crad for her to give to a lady at her work upon her retirement. I had very short notice but I have to say I like the end result. Here it is...

I used Crumb Cake and Soft Suede cardstock, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake and Pretty in Pink ink, Pretty in Pink ribbon, twine and lots of tiny little self-adhesive half pearls.

The stamp sets used were Thoughts and Prayers & En Francais for the background. The requested personalised sentiment was computer-generated.

So that's it. Another quick post before I have to fly out the door.

Demi's Preschool Photo

Hello everyone on this glorious Summer day!

I have Demi's preschool photo layout to show you today. The photographers did a great job. The portrait looks amazing in real life & it's A4 size! Anyway, here it is...

For privacy reasons I didn't share the class photo layout with you, but I can tell you that it matches this page and includes a drawing by Demi.

For this layout I used retired DSP. I don't remember the name of it but I know it was from one of the mini catalogues. Cardstock is Rich Razzleberry & Certainly Celery. I made the flowers myself using the large scallop circle punch from the current Summer Mini Catalogue and some flowers punches that I own. The centres are the new adhesive half pearls. I used the spiral punch to give the small photo and journalling a negative look. Fairly simple but that's how I wated to keep it because the photo is so beautiful on it's own.

I can't believe she'll be going to big school next year! What a big girl she is.

I hope to get some more photos developed soon so I can get started on some more layouts and share them with you.

More Christmas Cards

Well, what a whirlwind these last couple of weeks has been and there's no end in sight just yet. There have been school activities, dancing rehearsals, dance concerts, Christmas shopping, parties, and the list goes on. Today should be relatively quiet so I managed to take these few minutes to show you a couple of Christmas cards I made for some friends...


The owl card was made by stamping the Woodgrain background stamp with Crumb Cake ink onto Crumb Cake cardstock. The owl was punched from Soft Suede cardstock using the gorgeous owl punch. Other colours used were Real Red, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White and Basic Black. The "For You" sentiment is from the retired Vintage Labels set. It was punched with the Jewellery Tag punch, The sentiment inside the card is from the Many Merry Messages set. The branch was punched from Old Olive using the Two-Step Bird punch. The ribbon is Real red grosgrain.

The second card was made using the Loads of Love and the Loads of Love Accesories sets. It was made for Ruth who has two Golden Retrievers so I had to eliminate one of the dogs from the stamp, more difficult than I anticipated because the stamp is so small. Anyway, we got there in the end. The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments set

I hope to get some scrapbooking done amongst all the chaos as I have so many gorgeous photos of the girls that I've taken lately. I'll be sure to show you when I'm done. Wish me luck.

Happy Birthday, Bonny!

Hello everyone.

Welcome to a new week.

This is a card, albeit a little belated, for the lovely Bonny, a lady who regularly attends my classes. We only found out it was her birhday because she was dobbed in by another lovely regular, Ruth (hi, Ruth!).

Well, here it is....

Gosh, it's been a while since I bought this SU paper. From memory, I think it's the first time I've used them. Anyway, I've teamed the paper with Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive and Whisper White. This gorgeous stamp set called Aviary is from the upcoming (available from 1st December) Summer Mini Catalogue. The sentiment is from a retired set called Vintage Labels. It fits the Jewellery Tag punch perfectly. I also used an eyelet, some twine and little stick on googly eyes for the details. The leaves were punched with the Two-Step Bird punch.

Well, I think I can officially confirm, or should that be warn you, that I am going through an 'owl phase' so prepare for plenty more!

Last Class for the Year

Can you believe it will be Christmas in five weeks? Aaagghhh!!! It's quickly creeping up on us. WIth that in mind we held our last card making class for the year last night.

Here are the three projects we made.

First we tried our hand at heat embossing using silver embossing powder with the Delightful Decorations and Many Merry Messages sets. The leaves were cut with the Little Leaves die.

Our second project of the night was a little gift box made with the Mini Milk Carton die and decorated with that gorgeous little owl dressed as Santa. What a cutie! The leaves were cut with the Two Set Bird punch. The sentiment is from the Silhouette Sentiments hostess set and was punched out with the Jewellery Tag punch.

The last project was a card inspired by the super talented Teneale Williams. It features a little girl owl with a cute ribbon in her hair and the Woodgrain backgound stamp. Again, the sentiment is from the Silhouette Sentiments hostess set and was punched with the Jewellery Tag punch. The leaves were cut with the Two-Step Bird punch.

It was a fun night & I can't believe that'll be it for this year. Can't wait for our next class in 2011.

A Doctor in the Family!

Hello everyone!

I made a card yesterday to send to my nephew in Perth who will be graduating from university next month as a doctor!!! I can't believe he left to study in Perth four years ago. Time sure does fly but luckily, he will be coming home to Sydney as soon as he graduates.

Here is the card...

I just love the endless possibilities of the All in the Family and accessories sets. I can't get enough of them at the moment. Can't you tell? ;)

The sentiment is from the Tenny Tiny Sentiments set. Colours used were Crumbcake & Bashful Blue. The image was coloured with SU markers & the sentiment was punched using the Word Window punch.

Christmas Favours

OMG! I'm back for a third post in one day!!!

Back this time with the very quick and easy Christmas favours I made for Demi to give to her preschool friends this year...

You'll have to excuse the ugly shoe box I placed them in! Ha ha!

I used the Extra Large (6cm) Scallop Circle punch that will be available in the upcoming Summer Mini Catalogue as of 1st December, together with the 1 and 3/4 in circle punch and a personalised stamp that I had made up. The card was attached to the little bags I picked up a coupe of years ago (but never found a use for until now) with Real Red ribbon.

Voila!

Oh, what's inside you ask? A Christmas themed pencil with an eraser topper.

Wooden Letters for the Girls' Rooms

I'm back! Yes twice in one day!

My SU order containing Pretty in Pink arrived today so I was able to finish these....

I purchased the wooden letters from a homewares shop. Luckily, they were already painted white, as I hate painting. Then my girls helped me punch out the butterflies, which we then placed into various embossing folders to emboss. Once embossed, I glued the butterflies onto the letters and glued different embellishments to the centre of each of the letters. The final step before hanging them on the wall was to tack lengths of ribbon onto the rear of each letter and tying them into bows.

They both loved them but Mia won't see hers up on her wall until she comes home from school. Can't wait to see the look on her face.

Ocean Commotion in Neutrals

It has been a while since I used the Ocean Commotion set and now I remember why I like it so much. This time I used it with neutral colours to make a male's 50th birthday card. here is the card....

I used Chocolate Chip, Crumbcake and Very Vanila cardstock with Crumbcake, Chocolate Chip and Versamark ink. I heat embossed the fish with clear embossing powder and used half-pearls as the bubbles. The background was embossed using the Elegant Lines embossing folder which reminds me of an underwater scene. The sentiment is from the Afterthoughts hostess set.

Way Ahead of Myself.

I wasn't going to show you these until next year but I thought, "well, why not."

These are the cards I made for my girls' birthdays in march next year, yes next year. I had made card for our little neighbour, Zoe, which you may remember, & my girls loved it so I thought I'd make them similar cards...

I just LOVE the All in the Family set! I love how you can create so many different little people and make them look like the recipient of the card. I'm quite proud of myself for coming up with the idea of stamping the letters of my girls' names on the dresses. Had you noticed? A little hard to see, I know.

The cardstock colours I used for these cards were Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue, and Certainly Celery. The images were stamped in black StazOn ink on watercolour paper using the Stampamajig for perfect placement, coloured with SU markers, punched with the smaller square punch & mounted on larger squares

The letters spelling out my girls' names were cut using the alphabet dies.

The sentiments are from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments set and were punched with the word window punch. The girls ages were stamped and punched with the jewellery tag punch.

The various embellishments are from my stash.

I have to say I really love these cards, probably because I can just picture the reaction they're going to receive when I eventually give them to my beautiful girls.

OOPS! - Almost forgot to tell you that I finally got around to stamping all of the images from the All in the Family set & the other add-on sets permanently onto acetate using StazOn ink & the Stampamajig to save me doing it every time. It's a big time saver, let me tell you!

Little Soccer Guy

Let the weekend begin!

I just hope it warms up a little. I can't believe how cold it has been again lately.

I'm happy to report that I managed to spend some uninterrupted time on crafting today. It felt so nice. I got started on the girls' party favours for their birthdays next year & I made this little card card for our godson...

I used Pumpkin Pie, Night of Navy, Bashful Blue & So Saffron. The image was stamped with StazOn ink & coloured with SU markers. It was then cut using my Circle Scissors. The sentiment is from the Silhouette Sentiments hostess set (it's the only set I seem to be using for sentiments at the moment). It was punched with the jewellery tag punch and together with the charm, was attached to the card with a silver brad. The ball was highlighted with Crystal Effects (love that stuff as a strong adhesive & to embellish).

Just want to share with you that a new Mini Catalogue is coming out on 1st December & boy, is it a beauty!!!! I was able to preorder a set from it which arrived today. So exciting! I can't wait to use it.

Cards for Teenage Twins

Hi everyone!

Brrr! Well, it looks like we're back to Winter for a few days. This weather has been just crazy lately, don't you think?

Here are two cards I whipped up very quickly yesterday for the twin teenage sons of our good friend...

This is not my usual style but I did have a massive headache yesterday & didn't feel like spending too much time on my projects. It feels a little funny not having included an image. I just used a sentiment from the Afterthoughts hostess set. What do you think? Feel free to let me know.

Juggler Boy

Hi everyone!

What great weather we're having here in Sydney. The girls have just jumped in the pool with their dad so I've just snuck away to show you this card that I made today...

It was inspired by the son of a friend of ours who has learnt to juggle.

I used the All in the Family stamp set which I've had for ages, plus the Family Favourites add on set, which I've only just acquired. The sentiment is from the Silhouette Sentiments hostess set.

Colours used were Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, Certianly Celery. The charm, string & DSP are from my stash.
